CRITTER TIMER

A cozy focus timer for Apple Watch

How to Use

Start a Session

Tap the screen to begin a focus session. Your woodland companion settles into their world while you do your work.

Adjust Durations

Open Settings from the home screen to set your focus and break lengths. Use the Digital Crown to scroll through values.

Pause or Skip

Tap the screen during a session to pause. From the paused view you can resume, skip to the next session, or stop entirely.

Auto-Start

Enable auto-start in Settings to flow seamlessly from focus into break and back, with no taps required.

Pick a Companion

Choose between the rabbit, fox, or cat from the scene picker. Each has their own focus and break scene.

Frequently Asked

Why isn't my timer notifying me when sessions end?

Make sure notifications are enabled. On your Apple Watch, open Settings → Notifications, scroll down, and confirm Critter Timer is allowed. Standalone watchOS apps do not appear in the iPhone Watch app's notifications list — this is by Apple's design.

Does Critter Timer need an iPhone?

No. The app runs entirely on watchOS. There is no companion iPhone app.

Does Critter Timer work offline?

Yes. The app requires no internet connection. It uses no networking at all.

Are my session counts and streaks saved?

Yes. Your daily session count and streak persist between launches, stored locally on your watch. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Can I use my own custom alert sounds?

watchOS does not currently allow third-party apps to use custom notification sounds. Critter Timer uses the system default alert tone with a time-sensitive haptic to call you back.

What watches are supported?

Any Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later — Series 4 and newer.

The Digital Crown feels too sensitive (or not sensitive enough) when picking durations.

The crown is calibrated to roughly three units of rotation per step change. If you have feedback on this, send a note via the contact button below.
